Michael Buble: Meet Madison Square Garden - A Truthful, personal and Enjoyable Documentary

This week on DVD, is the launches of the Michael Buble’s Concert Documentary DVD +CD.
You can never get too old of Michael old style pop really. The perfect charm, the warmth of the gang and all the musicians in Michael’s company.
Michael claims he’s reach his goal after Madison Square Garden, which presented a bit of a sad note on the show… yet, the concert is fantastic.
Although I have hoped there’s more footage of the concert, like any full length show it’d be nice. Instead of the concentrated version of the show with the side dish of the documentary.
Yup, this time it’s more of a documentary than and Concert DVD. But it is a sincere piece for the fans and all. You get to see the relax and daily and love and normalcy and un-normal nature of the artist life on the road, all the behind the scene footage let you have a great understanding of Michael as a person.

V6 summer 2008 concert is a bang and the best stage design ever

Just finish watching last year’s V6 summer tour concert.
Regardless the geeky dance moves, the community exercise-esque dance routine the audience do with the band or the quirky singing voice.
I must say, from the 13 years the guys have been in the business. The still below 30 age of some of the member. The stage setting, the visual effects is the best in the business.
In an arena show, to have all 6 members running from the head of the stage to the far back of the arena and getting everyone involve is already a tiring show to watch. yet, every movement of the LCD screen is perfectly staged with the choreograph including their the way they moves and the position each member is to stand on the stage.
The LCD screen stretches from the 1st floor to the top floor where the band mates actually can have contact with the audience on the top floor and the effects follow the member throughout the arena.
It is the best stage design I’ve ever seen in any show both abroad and Japan and I think Johnny’s does it best, far, far better than those did in western stage.

Japan today: Lead - Feel The Vibe 2008

We steer towards the east to Japan a bit today.

Just came off the Lead 2008 Feel The Vibe concert. Finally the group has graduated to the adulthood of the music world.

The beat is faster, they have grown to their full heights that allow their moves to have the most momentum that they should have but still smooth as ever.

Lead is the band to watch. This is what persistence is all about in Japan. They pay off with all the 5 years of hard work, touring experience and at that young age! Their singing has matured so much till there’s no out of breath with singing, the whole performance is fine tuned and timed to the ultimate precision.

And with the trend of todays world raging over young talent. These seemingly young veteran ought to have a place in this business to have a resume or tour and major concert gigs and awards and skills to wow everyone for being below 20 right now.

Of course the concert format of rallying the crowds in the Japan ways need to be toned down a little bit if they ever have a show in US or Europe. Because those crowd they don’t like to be handled like the Japanese does. But their dance moves and their singing couldn’t have been better than they are now ever. And it’s high time that they should show the world what kids can do, especially in Japan.

Everyone in the group can ding, and everyone in the group can dance and rap perfectly. That’s a complete cycle from every one of the four members of the group and they harmonize well too.

Manufacture is not such a back thing after all because with the right management it gives the young the opportunity to grow incredibly and nurture them to great talent.

The show is at the Amphitheatre. It is a small space compare to Arena tour but to the weary Japan crowd, it’s a close area where the performer can be very close to the audience and heat them up properly with the moves and songs. It’s the right size for the Japanese audience.

It all ritual the show start with a beat and the sudden dimming of the light and the group appear behind a screen or the front of a spot light and only cast shadows and then all hell break lose when they start singing and dancing to the hot beat.

Everyone in the crowd is waving their things and light in sync with the beat and dance moves and scream when ever the group did cool moves.

The young energy that vibrated from the stage to the whole hall can be felt throughout the show.

David Archuleta Malaysia Shocase

While I was wondering what to do on a Saturday night. The phone rang and there my radio friend asked if I would want to go to a concert. I heard that David A is in town but didn’t really thought I’d go because I have no Idea where they spreading the ticket. So I thought sure. Let’s have some American Idol power and see exactly how good David Archuleta really is in real life.

Apparently he is a force of nature to be recon with. When we arrive at the venue, it’s packed. They are starting to block people out of going in. and the heavy dark clouds is dangerously hanging right above us. And then it started to drizzle and the security decided to let everyone with tickets in for cover.

So we got in fine right before the heavy rain started to pour. And right after the 30 minutes delay the show started. First every being in Malaysia showbiz that’s resemblance the AI show in here, first the local TV talent winner, then the million dollar contest singing winner, then the former Malaysian Idol, the true idol under the Idol format umbrella is here. All except Archuleta is unseen.

This friend I drag along with me, because she need a ride to buy her laptop is getting a bit bored with all the opening act. 3 opening act for a showcase is a bit too much really.

6 songs later, finally the crowd can scream their lungs out for the true hero of the night. David A. came out totally hype about the show and started belting out a Little too over you, Don’t Let Go, and Touch my hand. All the up tempo and seeing David jumping on stage and bouncing from one side of the show to the other it reminded me of the way that the Jonas Brothers work the crowd. Totally young, energetic, freakishly jive and the crowd started almost singing every verse with him, even the mother and father that accompany all the underage in the crowd, no wonder the amphitheatre is packed to almost double it’s capacity with the adult fans too. HAHA!!! By the time Crush really came, the amphitheatre sound like it’s gonna crush any second by the heat and the vibration from the crowd screaming and singing in perfect harmony.

Then David gone in to rest his vocal a bit and rest his beating heart for the last and intimate part of the show. David came out and walked to the Keyboard. My friend, who’s totally bored by now…. She’s not a fan and the day before she’s totally crash from an overnighter. So I thought now she’s gonna be impress cause the Kareoke part is over (not that the performance is bad, there’s not much improvisation can be done with a running track). First he did the run on Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles, anyone that’s gone on youtube will have seen the over download and played video of his school performance of the song. It is the real power of this 17 just gone 18 fella that everyone falls in love with last year. I must say American Idol did him good. He knows exactly how to work a crowd, he knows when a rendition is done with improvisation and perfect vocal changes is gonna get the people hyped. And he has return and show off a bit, I must say on the keyboard. And he ended the show with Angel, his last single on his album, and the only cover. And you need to see it to believe it. He is far better than most singers. And the stage present is….. what the world feeds on these days. Young, energetic and infectious.

Now the show is over, the rain have stop. Just in time for me and my gang to go back to my car before it started raining again? As any Oprah audience would say, a Aha moment anyone?!!!! It’s The Secret haha!!!!

Jason Mraz is too hot to Handle, Opening his world tour in Malayia.

Jason Mraz rocks Malaysia yesterday. On stage, the Stadium is jam packed with late comer to the show. And as usual the tropical country give Jason the heat right away (apart from the fact that there’s no air-con in the closed stadium.), everyone scream their lungs out right from the beginning. This is the countless free concerts that I’ve been with now, thanks to a couple of my beloved friends in the business.

There’s no doubts that Jason is far far better an artist than he looks. And this year I think it’s slowly moving from casual, shy talent to sex appeal status HAHA!

Everyone in the house is hot for it.

Jason sound have always been the relaxing, free spirited, tongue tying fabulous. But to take it to the arena and the coming American and world tour, he literally Jazz it up a little bit with a three piece brass band. American can expect greatness from this guy. The recently Grammy Nominated guy from Mechanicsville, started the show with one string of his previous one-hit wonder.

Then there’s a break and a wardrobe changes after an hour of dancing, audience interaction (teaching the audience geeky dance moves that actually look fine with Jason….. and joke on people too cool to moves), and plenty of jokes along the way.

Return with a sleeveless I Love KL (the capital of the country and where the show is), showing off some skin to the crowd HAHA! And with a beautiful lady named Penny Dai for the Colbie Caillat duet. Though the Q from Penny to get on stage is mess up a bit but the audience compensated from the beginning of the song. As usual as any Jason performance, you just switch the audience on and they fall into the block right away. Casual, no stress, no fuss, pure enjoyment, which is why I say everyone nowadays should get a doze of Jason Mraztic sound to their life.

Anyway the show goes on even with un-choreograph and some choreograph dance moves with the band and the show ended as all foreign show…. Too soon after one and a half hour.

David Foster and Friends - All Stars Concert

About a week ago I was at home, nothing to do and decided to flip in my David Foster and friends Concert DVD. Throughout the show, there’s surprises, there’s discovery, and there are pure pleasure of great music and talent and the admiration of the talent and the amazement on how a great master like David Foster can take the advantages of every artists.

The show consists of the best protégé of David Foster, Michael Bublé and Josh Groban. The show opening with one of the most frequent collaborated musician of David Foster, Saxophonist Kenny G, which Kenny G describe David as a producer that can make an artist do his thing without any doubt, an artist can trust David Foster wholeheartedly with his decision in the music.

Other guest artist that have rarely appear together with David is Kenneth “Babyface” Edmond who brings along his Brother Kevon for a rendition of the classic I Swear, who David mention as his most fierce competitor in as a producer and won over him in every major awards. Another great producer that makes the show is Brian McKnight.

Celine Dion videotaped their performance at one of Celine’s Vages show where Celine Stop the show and gave the audience a surprise performance with David on the piano.

American Idol alumni and the New protégé of Foster, Katherine McPhee gave a rendition of classic by Barbara Streisand after Barbara gave a dedication and greeted David with her wishes, Somewhere. Katherine later appear again with Andrea Brocelli to perform one of the most famous duet of all time, The Prayer. Brian Mcknight also reappear with Josh Groban to perform another great classic Bridge Over Troubled Water.

One of David best partner Peter Cetera came and give a fantastic reminiscing performance of Peter greatest hits, Hard To Say I’m Sorry, You’re The Inspiration and Glory of Love.

The country singer from Warner music, Blake Shelton make an appearance in the show with a performance of David only singing classic with a country twist Wildflower and later resurface with a performance of the country remake of Michael Bublé’s hit Home with Michael Bublé which makes the best fun of all performance switching from jazz classic and country style back to back with Michael.

The most surprising moment of the show and the show stopper of the whole concert is the performance by the newly discovers Philippines teenager and the most hype singer last year, CharicePempengco who also appear in Oprah. David says he is urge by Oprah to let her appear on the show, who sang the most amazing rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing/ I Will Always Love You. And believe me, if you just start with listening to the CD before you watch the DVD you’d not believe that the girl who sang the song is not Whitney let alone a 16 year old.

Other performer of the show including recently past AI season finalist Michael Johns who gave the best vocal performance of his life under the caring tutor of David (another showing of how David’s ultimate golden touch on the artist that work with him.) Boz Scaggs who sang some of the most memorable movie soundtrack that he did with David on Urban Cowboy, another young star, Renee Olstead, and also the amazing young pianist William Joseph have one of the heart-stopping and heart racing performance I’ve ever seen or heard. If you race with his hand you’d have thought that he had 10 fingers in each of his hand. Cheryl Lynn was also among the artist that performed her classic Got To Be Real with her dynamite vocal.
