New Artist Review have arrive.

Speaking of New Artist....... It’s another time to rack up some havoc on some New Artist Life this week.
So who’s there? Knock Knock.

Christina Millian came knocking on MySpace this week. What a surprise. I was totally into her music from the start. Yet, when I started the Space, I haven’t have the time to add on all my favourite artist yet, and here she is. The news is that she is getting her new Album out in a couple months and the new single is out now. Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/christinamilian

I’d like to start this week review with Jim Gaven. His sound is the sweet indie pop of a teenager but with a texture of a mature artist. It’s sensible and relatable. I’ve always would preferred piano composition than guitar. And with Jim you get the best of both world. It’s really great to see that young artist with talent strutting their stuff with their own idea image on the world wide web freely without the disturbance of bureaucracy or corporate profitability. It’s just plain pure and enjoyable. Check out Jim’s sound at http://www.myspace.com/jimgaven

Second on the line would be a group of guys turning from geeks to jokes to singer?! Yup, you can do the same and break the stereotype if you just try hard enough. Fulcrum that’s their name. It’s rock all the way and they are on their way to MTV2 too if enough people vote for it. they have the right wound and the right beat all the while. When I first heard their sound it beats the socks off my feet while I was jumping on my bed to the sound. HAHA! So check em out at http://www.myspace.com/fulcrumrock . You’d love them.

Another Band with the almost completely different sound is AMP, After Midnight Project. Their rock are the kind that you’d want to “Die” for. Because it is totally dark, Hence the band’s name. Though there’s no bright happiness here, I’m sure those that love the darkness would love this band. Because their quality is totally and completely in par with any pros out there. So check out the next Panic At the Disco, or Fall Out Boys. Check out the wicked sound at http://www.myspace.com/aftermidnightproject

Now here’s a guitar sound you’d never get out of your head, The Red Kid Theory. I got my brains totally picked out of this one. Literally when I first heard the songs created by Jeremy Whittaker sound, I’m totally kept inside this space of void filled with such great resonance that the glass ball simply swirl around and soak me with tears. He got a CD out and I think it is just suitable that to tell people that if your label are not ready to sign this singer, you must be crazy. His voice is so captivating that all other issue whether he is a singer or could be a successful one is totally not an issue here. Check out the sound and sign him guys. http://www.myspace.com/theredkidtheory

The Last person, but not least, I’d like to introduce here is Jared Seastrand. Equally strong on the guitar skill, Jared have some advantage over the other above. His sound is much more natural yet the beat just makes you want to dance to it. it’s a lot like some of the love songs you just love to listen over and over again although he looks pretty rugged HAHA! There’s no dark sound here. It’s just plain pleasure all the way. Check em out at http://www.myspace.com/seastrandmusic
That’s all for this week. Come in and check out more new sound next week.

Taiwanese Drama is Crazily infectious

Everyone can see that I’m not really writing much of late, that’s because my heart was focusing on something else. I’ve gone back a bit to my old self and watched some Taiwanese Drama.
Now I know that this is not the usual type of things I write about here but it is part of my heritage.
It’s said to be the Drama that racked the most viewers in the past summer, since nowadays the drama is delayed broadcast in other country, it’s racking up new tornado around the Chinese world.
Now let me explain how this work, the Chinese entertainment business is a worldwide business, consists of 4 big studio power house country, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea (Korea being the new boss that sprung out about 5 years ago). The distribution of the media is worldwide, because Chinese population can be counted in millions in country like US, Canada, Australia, Europe, China, South East Asia, thanks to slavery trading in the 19th century Chinese are spread throughout in all Major Continentals.
Taiwan island alone consists of more than a 100 TV and radio stations, over 50 traditional magazine and thousands of online Magazine follows and Blogging and faxing and connectivity to the internet is far far exceeding the American’s population. And because they are very near to Japan, though not everything can come new as fast as Japan but they are really really near when it comes to technology advancement. They may not be as organize, but Chinese have a spongy attitude than any ethnics in the world because they are so widespread and connected. All IPod type, All Blogging type, All Techno Stereotype, all Gossipy attitude, all P2P Sharing network are widespread in the Asian world. While some still choose to be ignorant to think that Chinese is the only market with large Chinese population, if you look at the china and Taiwan entertainment system, you’ll find that they are far more advanced than any people could have thought, because they include the business from all 4 major powerhouse, all going through the Chinese Distribution Chanel. Which is why some artist in the English and European circuit can easily survive without the country ever knowing about them, like how N’Sync, Backstreet Boys started. That’s how now Hanson and seemingly unknown US band like The Click Five actually is big hit in the oversea market. And the Moffatts brother that doesn’t seem big in the US market can rack up sales in Asian country.
One form of under-culture is form in this kinda social structure, (I’m sure somewhere around the world it’s a total Thesis phenomena study in some social study degree.) Chinese community can feel the separation and forcefully trying hard to get connected with these media which makes them really addictive and even feverishly crazy on idolizing certain iconic figure, be it models, singers, actors or other political public figures. This also rack up the opportunity for these people to become famous overnight when you get your face spread on all the front page of gossip mags and distributed around the world. Of course, bad news fly as fast as well, and the online community news buff get their news by the hour if not minutes. So that’s how fast it’ll spread when video (especially viral one, which makes it even more volatile once they got into the Chinese network) spread into the network.

Back to the business here, the drama I just finished has introduced a new actor, Ethan Ruan Jing Tian. It’s an understatement when you say he is new. Five years in the business as model, he have been in literally every magazine cover and as supporting in quite a few of the famous drama in the past. I have been interested on this subject ever since he first came into the scene 5 years ago. There’s quite a stir, just that his inexperience haven’t gave him any advantages yet on the circuit. So now after 5 years finally he got his big break with this drama. I must say there are still a lot of spaces for improvement. But as the songs sings, “you gotta have a trick”, his biggest asset, I guess, is his height and his ability to cry on demand. HAHA! I know, I know the American thinks that Man should be Macho and all. But trust me, Asian have a romantic notion to men who cries. So if you cry enough at the right timing, it crack the heart and women would swarm in like bees to honey. And Taiwanese director have just the right set of skills to create that timing. He got the looks. But his comedic timing still a bit off, but the most off beat acting skill he have to improve on is his acting on getting angry, everytime there’s a scene to promote anger, he fails at it, right then and there everyone can see that he is acting. Space to improve I guess. But as I say, he got the looks and that tricks, just enough to get him rise up. Yes, I will say that their demands are small. As long as it’s fresh then it’s ok. Fresh meat that’s what they called. HAHA! Anyway, this freshness will last for about another 3 years and it’ll depends on how he promote himself in the future. Gambate masu as what the Japanese says.
It’s a shame though, very often the male lead and more likely to get the heat up in such dramas than the girls. The female lead are more likely to sustain longer period of working experience in the business though. Because they have not 5 minutes fame in their belt, so their fame will have less probability to burn out fast. Which gives them the chance to developed into more experience and versatile actresses. Yet it’s really easy to be stereotype into certain character too in this business. Which is why they often reluctant to grab the same act for the 30th time after a few years, and disappear from the view later, still IF they wish to continue in the business, Chinese often promotes quadruple thread experience in entertainment, becoming an Actor, moving to modeling, and then singing and then hosting big event and shows or vice versa are often the path of many artists in Asia. There’s plenty to do.

News and Makeup

Now here I’m not really looking to make everyone panics today. But I think news and tips are all I have to offer here.
So, the market is dropping like flies with everything in the whole world slumping downhill. It probably will go on for weeks. But no fear. Here are some tips.
Get your money into the currency market now. Since country are freezing currency trading. Your money is good are staying no change at the moment. As there’s probably 90% of chances you’d hit a share that is going down now everywhere. Euro is going off the grid, so do the pounds and the USA. It depends on which one great dragon awakes after the bear is gone. And you’ll probably save some or even earn some there.
MY advice to most of my friends with millions in the banks to consider spreading them to more than one banks and spend less these days. Reason? You should look at your trust fund or investment agent and bank interest accountants these couple of days and see how many have really gone from your really money. And you’ll know what i mean. As the Oracle says, it’s time to get your butt off the couch and start working for money these days. The one best earning you’ll have is from your talent now.
Well, boring, disturbing and sad news aside, here’s something I got from one of my friends. Explanation on why you should wear make up even when you are on your own out for lunch. Well, even if you are not expecting someone to take your photo you might get shot by some stupid photog with a strong flash. One thing is that in this occasion the makeup can act as a protective layer to your skin and block the harmful light. Another more urgent reason is that flashes is so strong it pales you skin color and capture the 2nd layer skin, which will make those look pale, even blacks will look pale, because some of those colored people have a really pale second layer skin that can look pale or shiny when taken picture with strong lights. So to both protect your health and reputation, (trust me, I’ve seen stars looks like they just suck one a kilo of cocaine even when they are healthy, or ladies that is just a bystander and be discover becoming an model just because she is standing beside Julia Roberts and look beautiful.) wear’s makeup, same with your skin tone at least, when you are going out, doing your daily business, like throwing out your trash.

Up And Rising and God D**med Talented

After I’ve done a feature on the actresses that’s already a legend, I just thought it’d be great to do a piece on young star today that’s charging on to be a great actor.
Since we started the last piece with the British, I just thought we should start this one with some actor. It is obvious that American Actor are much more prolific than actresses in America. The whole movie business have all kind of Character type developed over the years for Male Actor therefore in some way it is not hard to spot a great actor out of the bushes yet it is a competitive one to say the least.

In the aspect of fame and fortune, the one actor that has left the whole lot early in the race is Shia Labeouf. Hitting at least 3 major blockbuster under his belt in just short 2 years and close to 2 handful of critically acclaimed role in the industry at this age. He has totally arrived at the finish line. He may not be the actor with the best pay checks, his looks may not be the heartthrob type. But the sincerity in his acting, his skills, his personal attitude and professionalism, and from what I heard the totally down to earth demeanour with the people around him, and not to mention the willingness of one of the best producer and studio around to back him up. He is the definitely better than any people give credit for and he has more and many more to offer in the future. With Transformer 2 coming out next year. He will be a bigger deal then.

Second up will be Michael Angarano, you may not see too many production from this fella this year, but I have no doubt that he is going to be one of those little bunch that will truly shine in the long way. Only if the producer can get over his young face soon enough and give him a chance on “bigger” role, or when he out grown his baby face. Yet without that he has been a great actor throughout his short acting life. Holding all the difficult kid to teen’s role that a actor could only dream of getting. He got them all. From the Black Irish, to The Final Season, to the Forbidden Kingdom, or Snow Angel, or Lord of Dogtown.

Speaking about Lords of Dog Town, you’ll find another great actor that’s not afraid of any role he wanted, Emile Hirsch. With his Acclaimed role in Into the Wild, to Alpha Dog, to Lords of Dogtown, to Imaginary Heroes and moving back to The Girl Next Door. He’d never really done a role that’s less impressive. You’d realise that I did not mention Speed Racer. Reason for that is that I’d just like to say he’s not done anything that’s out of his style there. His performance is spot on. Just that the technic color is just too much in the 21st century film. Yet, I’m pretty sure you have not seen the last of his trace in the Award circuit with films like Talking Woodstock coming out.

Well, enough of an award buzz kids, let’s go to some actor that’s riding on the fame wagon that’s totally haven’t have a chance on roles that’s gonna get them into some awards. Sure enough you all know who I’m gonna start with, Zac Efron. I’m not saying that he is not a great actor in the making. Well they are making it. and in a big time to say the least. But they are more of a fame role than an award role. He got the looks, he got the following and he’s got the touch I’ve no doubt and when the chances comes by and if he grabs it he’ll get there. But now, it’s just that squeaky clean idol image there is. Let’s just say, he is the Tom Cruise of our time.

Another Actor that’s riding on that wagon would be Hayden Chritensen. His wagon is long past, a true epic, Star Wars. But there’s no doubt that he has grown into the real male actor with those opportunity. To tell the truth, he’s got plenty of great chances after he got off that wagon a few years back, like role in Awake, Jumper, Shattered Glass, Factory Girl, and Life as a House. He is still gonna be moving onwards to better role for sure.

Let’s move on to something that’s more in the independence arena, Michael Cera. I don’t know the deal. Juno, he is just the dork. But it works in some precarious way. In the independence color and atmosphere, it just works for him, really really well. he got that glow in him which doesn’t spell attractive and star power. But his body language have that charm in it and definitely will take on plenty more great roles.

Well, enough of the American continent intro and we move on to British. Surprise isn’t it when it’s in reverse when it comes to male and young. Daniel Radcliffe will be the one British I’m gonna be featuring here. There’s no introduction needed isn’t. He got the fame of Harry Potter and 7 years on still going strong for him, then there’s Equus giving him that Tony Awards nod. And then there is the totally different role like December Boys, and later in the year or next you’ll see him moving into the role of Journey. You should have seen him in the TV Movie My Boy Jack. As I say, you can’t get any better than being a British actor, he got the fame, the fortune, and the resume to be admire and there’s no doubt more going on for him in the future. If you add them up, he is any 4 of the actors above combine. Just the luck. HAHA!

Well, if you are doing the top 5 special there’s definitely some people left off. So right now let me see if I can round this off to a top 15, Hunter Parrish, the whole cast of Gossip Girl: Penn Badgley,Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Josh Hutcherson, Kevin Zeger, Jamie Bell, Channing Tatum. And on some more experienced actor note, there’s no doubt these are the big players these days that’s up there and totally in the move fast into replacing the empty places left by those that’s past, those new buzz will definitely be starting with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Hartnett, James Marsden, Justin Long, Christian Bale, Patrick Dempsey, Jonathan Rhys Myers. I know you must be asking why are there no actors that’s black or Asian. For the Asian in the Hollywood business there’s hardly any place for them yet, as for the Black community, My way is still with Denzel Washington up on the top, grinding down to Jamie Foxx and Will Smith, which to me they are not getting there, they are already there.

So, that about concludes my actors review today. Best of Luck and Godspeed to you all.

The True Movie Star are those with Talent

I’m on a rampage today. All the thoughts I have when I’m away.
I thought I’ll do a full movie and star feature today. Since I started the day with some new movie I’ll start with some one that’s more experienced and I admire as a professional and actresses in the business.
Some of them you may recognize, some of you may not but I tell you, these ladies are the cream of the crops; they don’t really get any better than this.

Since the golden girls went off air, I find that actresses get their talent through a lot or hard wand and age and with it the experience that gives these ladies the advantages over the younger generation. First up will definitely be Dame Judy Dench, while some of you may just know her as M in the James bond movies, long before that Dame Jud Dench is a phenomena in the British entertainment. There’s a certain grace to her when she is royal and if you wish for her to be normal, she can be as normal as anyone can be. If anyone of you inspiring actresses out that that means it. you should see Dame judy Dench at work. You want to be her, because she can play any role. And I mean it literally any role. For the powerful Boss of James Bond, to the ladies in Mrs Henderson Presents, to the lonely wicked woman in Notes on Scandal, to the Demanding Lady in Pride and Prejudice, to the Lonely end of life with love lady in Ladies in Lavender, every role you can think of she is there, oh let’s not forget to mention, the Queen in Shakespear In Love. Of course there are many many more in the past. A great actor doesn’t comes out of a rock somewhere suddenly. You can be aged, but you simply sees professional at work here everytime you meet her and from what I heard, she is the most pleasant person to meet in person. And I do hope one day I’ll get to meet this great lady and work with one day.

Maggie Smith is Dame Judy Dench best friend at the art. A competitor no doubt. But Ms Maggie’s face spells a different kind of actress. While Dame Judy Dench can speak authority and miserable at times demand. Ms Maggie Smith have a face of royal if not rich. It’s a great representation of the British ladies in general (Before Diana that is). When you see her on screen, she demands it. She just has that attraction to draw you in and spit you out. Not the mean kind of ladies, but the subtle, kind. She is the mom, the lady, the beauty, the famous faces, the true star the actresses. She always have that glow, that attitude behind the kind stare, that captures you and you somehow fear in a way.

Helen Mirren, I must say, you’d think the Mr Helen is not going into the list? No way. Yes she may not be the same gang as Ms Maggie and Dench, but that’s also what makes it unique, she is not any of them. You get jumpy, you get young, you get that experiences yet bombastic action from Ms Mirren. Anything that she is, she is the ultimate authority figure in acting. How many people can say they have played both Queen Elizabeth and claim it as her own role. That is a challenge no one had ever accomplished. That aside, I must say this but no one plays a B***h better than Ms Mirren HAHA! I love her role in Calendar Girls and The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone. Of course not to be left off Gosford Park.
Well, you can see that the British though may not have enough block buster, but it is the perfect breeding grown for great actresses.(If you can stand the trial of time that is, I didn’t say it’s gonna be easy.)
Let’s move a bit into the America now. In the America, usually actresses are limited into certain images, like Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, even Barbara Streisand is in the case. Too many list and category that fixes a person into on space.

But with one little exception (that I can think of), is Meryl Streep. She is the soft lady in The Bridges of Madison County, she is the bitch in Death Becomes Her, she is the brave mother in The River Wild, she is..... Out of Africa, she’s the mom in Prime and Machurian Candidate, and who can forget The Devil Wears Prada super Boss, and to go from there into a small role in Dark Matter, and then A Musical that’s so outregous like Mamma Mia?! This will be the best career an artist can ever have.

OH!! While I was on the page of America, I’ve thought of another legend, Glenn Close. If anything you ask, she is the lady, the ultimate actress with the star quality and the real quality in one package. Sunset Boulevard..... she is her, no one ever played better, she is that actress. She is the President face, she is the lady that survive, she is the Queen and Goddess of all three TV, Movies and Broadway. (Not that you don’t notice that all the other 3 is too great legend in all three genre). Ms Close is the working class and the historical Royal. And that face of her simply spell start power.

Let’s goes back to the Britain and the Calendar Girls, there’s one actress that’s in both and a something better, Harry Potter that’s where you can find how diverse the British Actresses catalogue can become, julie Walters. You can be a mother witch in Harry Potter, you can be the green leaf in Mamma Mia and still be outstanding, you can be the subtle old lady in Driving Lesson, you can be the sane and logical mind of a bunch of ladies wanting to pose nude in some calendar, You can be the grumpy old Ballet teacher in Billy Elliott, Ms Walters is the most hilarious and humorous person I’ve ever seen without even cracking a joke.

While I am on the trail of great actresses. I’d love to mention some people that I think is great actresses that may not have as much coverage as the ladies above but to my heart always are great actresses in their own way, Gena Rowlands, Joan Plowright, Lily Tomlin, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Davis, Miriam Margolyes, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews and Cher. Ladies I salute you. You are all the Best actresses of my time.

I'm Back!!! All Recharged and ready to go.

Hey everyone, I’m back. Well not that I’ve gone anywhere, just gone on a holiday. Nothing much, just kids and stuff. HAHA! One thing really strange though. I got back on to the Rubik’s cube band wagon and find that I’m not really that rusty on it. HAHA!
Anyway, coming back from the trip, I realise a lot of stuff and really got me refocus. Actually I’m pretty out of focus today for no sleeping enough the day before and not enough money and all HAHA!
But one amazing thing happen on my trip, seemingly the most heavy traffic season of the year, I dodged every bullet that there is, traffic jam, parking space, in fact I got so lucky that almost everytime I go out I’ve parked in front of the place I want to go, even the cinema I got the best sit in the house. I feel that I’m invincible. For a week only that is HAHA!
Well, since I’m back I don’t intend to stay mum, let’s get down to business.
Last night, after a girls night out with the gal, a quick brunch and Kareoke, of course the gal gone home for their beauty sleep and I head down to the cinema for a fix on my movie bugs.

Eagle Eye is the movie. My friend once said that Steven Speilberg’s exec produce film no good. But this one is totally the other way around. High action packed and totally suspense. But there’s a downside to it. It gets somewhat predictable and ended too abruptly that it felt empty at the end of the films. Guys would love this one. As for the girls, unless you are a movie freak or a suspense freak. (I’m all the freak there is when it comes to movies HAHA!). I won’t tell you the whole plot and spoil the whole thing. You can get an inkling of what it is with the trailers. I will say this. It is an action movie more than anything. Maybe that’s just me because I knew what it would be. Because there’s less plot of than Bourne then I must say it’s not a big loser, yet not the biggest gainer I’ll expect. For Shia’s fan out there, this one you shouldn’t miss. It’s the one movie you seldom see Shia show all his chops on the emotional side. Some local critics say that he is trying to change his image from a teens to a man. I will say sorry guys, he has already arrive when he did “The Greatest Games Ever”. He is the one few of those actor out there that’s so unique you’ll find legend’s quality in and more. And with the backing of Mr. Speilberg, he’ll shine as bright as any star you’ll ever see. (Just don’t waste it on beer and drugs Shia.... HAHA! Just kidding.)
Speaking of a great actor, just some quick flash on what’s happen in the entertainment last week.
The great Paul Newman is off to heaven, our condolences and prayers goes out to the family, friends and may God take him under His wings.
And there’s Michael Cera‘s Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist on the movie board this week, that is one of the most anticipated movie for me. I mean it’s Michael Cera, that’s one actor you can’t find more dorky yet..... sensible in a movie ever. The movie is a love story with plenty of music so every tween will be in the mood and enjoy this one.
Of course everybody is talking about the Vice Presidential Debate this week. If you ask me the truth, regardless how many of the buzz is, it’s a bit of a disappointment for me that both candidates didn’t really show much in it. Yeah, everyone watch it, Palin maybe the attraction, but the bottom line is, the publicity stunt just end right when they start speaking. There’s just not that much there. Not much commitment, not much policy, I think the bailout is more attractive.

Enough politics, cos whatever is on the news this week, the tween are totally not into it. Reason? High School Musical in on a world tour premier this whole month going from country to country, kicking it start at France and Spain, and there’s no way that anyone outside of American from the age of 6- 30 is looking at the debate at all, or the slumping economy. HAHA! Well, it will get back up soon enough. probably a good time to invest now before the market rise to a bull. Yup, the HSM gang have arrive. Plenty of screaming fans and waving and then there they go into the real movie in a cinema.
