I had the most amazing moment last night that got me speechless.
My friend had no idea what he had done.
Ever since the Lord of the Rings came on screen and Howard Shore played the orchestra in New Zealand. I’ve been dreaming of going to the concert. But there’s no way at that time when I’m thousands of miles away and not with a dime extra that I would get a chance of watching Howard Shore in action and before I know it the show is over.
Fast forward 3 years now. KL Philharmonica is playing the very same score. And without really realizing it, I was with one of my friend living in KL, he is one of the Choir member on the board for the show. And a month ago he surprises me with a free ticket to the show. It is extraordinary how things work out and you say you can’t believe in miracle or the Law of Attraction. Back then I haven’t even really practice it. I just have this crazy positive eager to watch the concert. And here I am sitting in the state of the art concert hall In the country and listening to the very same music I’ve been longing for.
It’s been a long while and I find that less and less movies are coming out both epics and musically scored. The traditional and amazing collaboration of music with movies are slowly replaced with rap and pop music these days. I’m fine with most modern action movie using this kinda mix. But I realize now that great movies, classic itself have gone for silent mode these days rather than a dramatic music role. Like the old days, everything is score, even Jaws and Indiana Jones and Superman, which truly makes the movies much fuller than it’s showing on the screen. And I feel that the art are slowly missing out on today’s movie making and it’s a real pity to see such fantastic art going away. The real last big score I’ve seen is LOTR. And truly the score is the best that there is. Some like me would consider it as the best score ever on a movie even.
