The pivotal moment in my consciousness about going green is when I watched the movie “Free Willy”.
Although all of the concept have been thought to me when I’m in the junior but those to me always has been just theory. I even have teacher that actually convince me that the melting of the north pole won’t happen in a 100 year time. Yet, statistic proven that the melting are all going exponentially faster every year and in the period of the next 2 decade we all ice will be gone if we human do not change our ways of lives now or if the nature’s scale do not tip over one side and retaliate with ore vibrant natural reaction.
Free Willy, a story of an abandoned child (Jesse) and a whale (Willy). It consists of 3 movies all together in the series. The first teaches you friendship between human and animals and the possible of new hope for even the one that seems hopeless and the value of family doesn’t necessary comes from blood. How the met in the child’s rebellious act on a theme park and forming the friendship between to lonely strangers. And in the end the effort to run from the villain theme park manager that’s trying to kill Willy.
The second, is the one that actually thought us the value of natures. Oil spill one incident that trigger of all the agenda in the movies. Come of age, siblings rivalry, the sadness of loses and forgiveness and acceptance. How Jesse receive the news of the death of his birth mother, his existence and communication half brother when he have to live with his adopted family, when they went on a camping trip, the cove they are in and Willy living in was affected by a Crude Oil cargo spilling into the ocean. And in the end this time Jesse were saved instead by Willy in the end from the burning Oil that’s trapped them.
The third, will be a little bit off the mark as it tells the story of a father and a son. Family whalers, the struggle, the conflict between the idealist young ones and the effort to turn his father back to light. Jesse this time serve as just the mediator rather than as the main character
I know that all of this is a bid childish. I wasn’t exactly that old when the movies first came out. My breath was taken away by the beautiful movement and body of the orca. That lead me to foster an affection towards animals. Then which lead to nature and animal preservation effort discovery. And that is the beginning of my realisation.
