I was sick at home yesterday. Looking I got nothing to do but sleep and go to the toilet like 3 times in an hour.
I’ve decided to take my mind off of it by doing my favourite sport. That’s watching DVDs and concerts and truly rest. It’s somewhat a blessing in disguise. I haven’t have my mind rest for weeks and this is the time. I even got some home chores long delayed done.

I’ve watched Bridge to Terabithia, Evita and A Walk to Remember
Bridge to Terabithia, I’m glad that I didn’t watch it in cinema. Not because it’s not a good film. But this way I don’t have the preconception what the film is about from promotion or critics and I can enjoy it as it is. I’m sure I’ll be cursing if I had watch it back then. Reason is that the trailers and TV Spots had led me to think that it’s a fantasy story like The Spiderwick Chronicles
So it’s a story somewhat more like My Girl. Only you throw in some fantasy from a girls mind and the game she played with her friends. It’s a pretty light story until the end. I’ve enjoyed it. of course there are always some life lessons to be learn from this kinda movies that talks about relationships. Of course the kids in America should know well about it cause this book has been in the reading list of a lot of schools.

As for Evita, there’s no doubt it is a great musical adaptation to movie. I loved Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work. The Evita story may still sparks controversy for portraying one of the most amazing women in history to be a bit of a lower level struggler that rise to the top in a bit of a climb of a gold digger. Of course with the material girl as the lead it makes the image much more realistic than legendary. Yet still, the truthfulness of such stories are what captivate people when they are watching these story. The saint is more human inside than what we wish to think. And it makes us much more mesmerise by the character.

A Walk to Remember, I’m a sucker for chicks movies.... No, I’m not. I’m just totally blasted away by Nicholas Sparks’ work. With a Message in a Bottle and then A Walk to Remember, the way he writes about human are so real. The pain are real, the experience is as real as anyone going through the same thing and still it show us all that human are remarkable being and in every way that we are different and sometimes ugly there are always some part in everyone of us that is great and to that one person maybe in this life we are their one and only savoir or angel or lovers or miracle or simply a candle. So I’d never forget the first time I’ve ever watch it. it’s Titanic on land and the role reversed. Through the course of our insignificant life, we will meet this one person who would take the leap of faith on us and forever changed our lives. It may not happen to everyone, but it is a great story to tell if ever there were. And until that day, there’s no harm in creating some fiction and pass this beautiful notion of love on.

Well, Movies aside. I’ve just bought 2 of the most amazing concert from last year’s season. One is Shakira’s Oral Fixation Tour and the other is John Meyer’s Where the Lights is. 2 of the greatest entertainers and musicians of our time.
Shakira is the ultimate entertainer. Her show exudes sexiness in every corners. She moves well, very well. That hips really doesn’t lie. The way she dances, it’s totally professional. With the setting and the costumes, she’s just describing beauty with movement. And you add in her sensual voice. You get the best of everything a singer have to offer. Her show is lays with Latin sensation and the international fusion. There’s Chinese harp, there’s the bongo, there’s the beat , there’s the dance. It just simply transport you into this sexy, conscious life of wonderful sensation.

To talk about 360 degrees changes. This time John Meyer has outdone himself and everybody. The DVD felt more like watching a movie than concert. A movie about a concert. He started the interlude with one of the most amazing electric guitar sound on the beautiful hill top overlooking Hollywood. The we slipped comfortably into the acoustic section of the concert as it started. You’ll hear the familiar songs with a bit of twist as John tries to break down any expectation the audience have of his performance when they comes in. Then after a few of the usual suspects, they go down on a change and you are taken back into this. With a perfect Armany suits and slinging with a electric guitar, the Trio came on with their craziest run of both beats and electric guitar. It’s almost electric guitar jazz at its best. And the collaboration is fantastic. Maybe people are not as familiar with the Trio. This is a band that Meyer formed between Your Body is a Wonderland and Waiting on the World to change, although they may not have got the publicity out with their first outing 2 years ago. But as John said, there’s so many potential in the band, there’s just countless possibility went great musician jamming together. Their creations are as great as any legends or classics. It’s a fusion of Jazz and old-style Rock and Roll really.
The third part of the concert we come back to the original John Meyer. But not quite. When you got into a John Meyer concert you know that you are in for a surprises everytime. Or several surprises in fact. He is totally channeling the Elvis and Johnny Cash in him. He is the most amazing musician of our time. There’s certainly no dispute about it.
It’s just a fantastic feeling when you see a person giving them all they got on the stage. And still everytime they come back. They have more and more surprises install and ready to rock another day and create more miracles. It is just amazing
