
Asimo the robot is touring Asia this month.
I saw the cute fella on stage and I was like excited and scared out of my mine.
All of the science fiction story that came to mind suddenly became pretty overwhelming.
A robot that can literally do anything a person can stand up. Walk, talk, recognize, remember. The only thing that’s different is that it doesn’t calculate conflict. It translate and calculate every command precisely as it should. The build is as close to human joint as ever. Now what it needs is a better body that can uses strength acceleration better and a brain that can handle confliction.
It is a giant leap when it can dance and kick and move as good as a human. Learning and remembering surely don’t have a problem with a huge ROM. Only the processor needed could be faster. One idea. Probably instead of using one huge processor, maybe every processor on every inches of the robot body with a perfect lapse timing punch out impulse and receiving of impulse every 1000th of a second like a heart, and the another huge powerful processor for the incognitive action will do. Both cognitive and incognitive processor should link but do not control. And the processor will do it’s choices accordingly but not exactly in absolution. Now that’s a human.
Isn’t it scary. Even the developer will think that he want to control the bot by some universal law but it’s not possible as there ‘d be some dispute in the bot itself as we get it closer and closer to human.
Yet, personally I always think we shouldn’t let anything stop us just because we are scared of the unknown. I never endorse such action. We’ll see in the future.
